Donegal Castle

Standing guard over Donegal town on the banks of the River Eske since the 15th century, Donegal Castle was originally built by the O’Donnell Chieftains. During the course of its history, the castle passed to the Brooke family who extended and refurbished it. Donegal Castle is furnished throughout with exquisite works of art bought by the Brooke family and includes a fascinating museum exploring its turbulent past.

Belleek Pottery

One of the most famous porcelain and china, Belleek is recognised for the fine detail and careful craftsmanship of each piece. The pottery takes its name from the village in Fermanagh where it is located and is just 15 minutes drive from Bundoran. The visitors centre includes some of the finest pieces ever produced and guided tours through each stage of the process.

Killybegs

The picturesque town of Killybegs is 40 minutes drive from Bundoran on the opposite side of Donegal Bay. Killybeg is the busiest fishing port in Ireland, with over 60 boats calling it home, including the worlds largest trawler the “Atlantic Dawn.” The sights, sounds (and smells!) around the bustling harbour give you an insight to the lives of the fishermen and townspeople. Killybegs has a wide range of shops including fishmongers selling the freshly landed catch, art gallery and craft stores as well as lovely selection of cafes restaurants and tea rooms.

Slieve League

The cliffs of Slieve League (Sliabh Liag in Irish) rise to 601 metres above the emerald green waters. Although less famous than the Cliffs of Moher, Slieve League are three times higher than the Co Clare cliffs. You could easily spend a whole day exploring the myriad of footpaths enjoying breath-taking views around every bend; watching the birds and wildlife; or unlocking the archaeology and mythology of the area.

Bundoran Seaweed Baths

Seaweeds are rich in essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and have been used for centuries to treat everything from liver disease to cellulite. Taking a dip in the Bundoran Seaweed Baths & Aqua Mara Treatment Rooms can be a rejuvenating experience. The baths are located in the Waterworld complex 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
